Job Summary

Responsible for underwriting multifamily investment applications with an emphasis on Fannie Mae DUS, FHA programs, and multifamily capital providers. Prepare presentations for loan committee and participate in the approval process with regard to investments. Assist team members in evaluating real estate and business opportunities including risk assessment and pricing, and assist in the origination of acquisitions and other financial opportunities.

Job Description

  • Prepare underwriting narratives for investment opportunities.
  • Work diligently to control the quality of investments, provide thoughtful, critical underwriting, and assure that such underwriting is properly documented.
  • Quickly and accurately underwrite, analyze, explain and document multifamily and senior housing mortgage-secured transactions.
  • Process and apply a thorough knowledge of our company’s programs, requirements, policies and procedures.
  • Communicate clearly with borrowers, issuers and others involved in financing.
  • Ensure that proper notification, communication and coordination has occurred with the company’s legal, compliance and closing personnel.
  • Portray a high quality image.
  • Put forth above average effort and diligence.
  • Coordinate with other groups (tax credit syndication, tax exempt bond underwriting, lending, etc.)
  • Maintain current knowledge of applicable underwriting standards and program requirements.
  • Inspect multifamily properties and gather other local market intelligence.
  • Interpret exhibits, inspection results, technical reports and other data and record findings in a professionally composed narrative for presentation.

Education

  • Two years experience in analyzing/underwriting multifamily loans.
  • Experience with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac or FHA preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work well independently and under pressure; adjust to varied workloads.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Work, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent analytical skills and real estate judgment to determine supportable value and loan amounts.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including confidence in dealing with borrower clients.
  • Appreciation for the importance of accuracy, consistency and aesthetic quality in loan package presentation and speed of execution.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred.
